Neele-Vat Logistics d.o.o. Handles Nearly 1,000 Tons of Cargo From China to Hungary

4 min read

Neele-Vat Logistics d.o.o., a member of the XLProjects Network (XLP), handled nearly 1,000 tons and more than 3,300 CBM of various cargoes from Shanghai, China, via the Port of Koper, Slovenia, to a new factory site in Eastern Hungary, approximately 800 km from Koper.

From mid-April until the end of May, Neele-Vat Logistics d.o.o. handled a total of almost 1,000 tons and over 3,300 CBM of various cargoes from China (POL Shanghai), via POD Port of Koper, to a new factory site in Eastern Hungary, about 800 km from Koper.

Of the total, almost 400 tons and 700 CBM arrived as BBK cargo. Besides the BBK cargo, there were 26 x 40′ HC, 15 x 40′ FRK and 5 x 40′ OT containers, totaling 564 tons and 2,600 CBM, which Neele-Vat Logistics d.o.o. had to strip in Koper and deliver using various types of trailers to the final destination.

The heaviest item weighed over 80 tons and measured 4.13 M high and 4 M wide.

Due to delays in the ocean leg of the transport, the shipments arrived almost all at the same time. Rather than the cargo being received on a continuous basis as planned, a substantial portion arrived within a period of less than 10 days. This created time pressure with respect to on-time deliveries on one side and capacity constraints at the delivery site on the other.

CHALLENGE: Delays on the ocean leg caused a substantial portion of the cargo to arrive within a window of less than 10 days, creating pressure from two directions at once: the delivery site needed cargo in line with its production line assembly schedule, yet could customs clear only a limited number of trucks per day. At discharge, several items were found to differ in dimensions and weight from the declared figures, requiring the cargo to be remeasured and reweighed on the spot and the corrected data carried through the full documentation chain, including new transport permits, revised escort arrangements and amended customs paperwork. All of this had to be coordinated with the customs team in Hungary and the delivery site in parallel, while metering the daily truck flow to stay within the site’s clearance capacity.

SOLUTION: Neele-Vat Logistics d.o.o. made it work with one team in the port tagging all cargo, as all cargo was unmarked, measuring and reweighing all pieces and coordinating with the truck drivers to ensure the right cargo was loaded. Another team was available 24/7 on the phone with the receiver to coordinate the truck flow and crane organisation, while the in-house customs team coordinated every single item with the receiver’s customs agent to make sure transit documents were prepared correctly to allow smooth import customs clearance at the delivery place.

This project is considered a great example of what makes the Neele-Vat Logistics d.o.o. team special: close communication, dedication and an engineering mindset that sets the company apart from others.

Neele-Vat Logistics d.o.o. thanks its valued client for entrusting the company with this project and looks forward to the next one!
