Compass Global (HK) and Karl Gross Internationale Spedition Collaborate to Transport Big Equipment

2 min read

Compass Global (HK) Co., Limited have successfully arranged the transshipment of 6 big equipment from Nansha Port to Yangpu, Hainan Province in July 2022 for Karl Gross Internationale Spedition GmbH. It is a successful cooperation between XLP members.

Karl Gross planned to ship the cargo to Yangpu port in Hainan, but due to the size/weight 610*311*375cm / 39,560 kgs each, shipping lines rejected to arrange a through carriage to destination by their feeder barge. Compass Global proposed a plan to ship the cargo to Nansha port along Zhuijang River first instead of via Hong Kong, and then can haul the cargo by truck to Hainan province and deliver cargo directly to consignee’s jobsite.

The cargo was shipped out from Hamburg on June 14th as BBK cargo by container ship. Compass Global Guangzhou branch arranged trailers waiting at port to take cargo directly from ship. After customs declaration finished and getting road transportation permit, they delivered the cargo to jobsite as planned.

As the China government is developing Hainan province as a Free Trade Zone, so there should be many new projects start there. For oversize cargo, due to the shipping lines cannot take them by feeder barges to Haikou port, It is a good option to ship cargo to Nansha port first and then deliver to Hainan island by truck, even though they need to pass through the strait be ferry. Nansha port has become an important hub in South China region.
