Seaway Logistics, a member of the XLProjects Network (XLP), coordinated the export of 12 large mining dump trucks from Henderson, Western Australia, to Açu, Brazil, in collaboration with XLProjects member Interfreight Logistics.
The project involved approximately 8,000 CBM of cargo with a total weight of 1,800 MT, covering approximately 8,400 nautical miles. The complex shipment required detailed engineering, dismantling and heavy-lift planning to prepare the mining equipment for ocean transportation.
How Was the Mining Equipment Prepared for Export?
Upon arrival at the Henderson facility, the trucks underwent inspection and condition reporting before being systematically dismantled into transportable modules. Components such as wheels, tires, handrails and access ladders were removed where required to meet vessel stowage limitations and optimize the cargo footprint while maintaining OEM handling requirements.
The cargo was then fitted with certified lifting points, transport frames, sea-fastening interfaces and engineered support cradles. Sensitive hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems were sealed and protected against the marine environment.
How Was the Heavy-Lift Operation Managed?
Seaway Logistics coordinated the marshalling and sequencing of the cargo within the port laydown area to align with the vessel loading plan. Detailed lift plans and method statements were developed for major components to support safe crane operations and compliance with Australian port and maritime regulations.
The coordinated approach helped optimize crane utilization and minimize vessel port time during the loading operation.
