FLS Projects Singapore Arranged Cross Border Trucking Of Steel Reels From Malaysia To Singapore.
FLS Projects Singapore recently arranged for the cross-border trucking of steel reels from a supplier in Johor, Malaysia to PSA terminals, Singapore.
The cargo was delivered from the suppliers premises directly alongside the vessel and then loaded on board without double handling. The strict regulation on foreign licensed trucks entering PSA terminals proofed to be the main challenge in this operation.
For similar shipments, usually the cargo would be trans loaded from the Malaysian truck onto a Singapore licensed truck after crossing the border and before entering PSA. This additional handling, however, would increase the risk of cargo damage and the cost of the operation.
FLS Singapore circumvented both by obtaining a permit for the Malaysian truck to conduct in-port operations. Upon entry being granted by the Port Authority, FLS Singapore guided the Malaysian haulier into the port and co-ordinated between the carrier, terminal operator and stevedores for a smooth loading.
