Racing Cargo Delivers Oversized Cryogenic Tank During Peak Port Congestion in Manzanillo

Oversized tanks do not wait for ideal operational scenarios, and neither does Racing Cargo.

Handling oversized cargo rarely aligns with perfect conditions. In this case, a cryogenic tank arrived from China just as the port of Manzanillo experienced peak congestion: extended queues, shifting loading windows, and strict height clearances influencing every operational decision. Even under these constraints, the process advanced without interruption, with the cargo released the same day, transported inland, and unloaded with full compliance and precision.

Project Overview
Cargo Type: 40’ Flat Rack
Cargo: Cryogenic tank
Dimensions: 1110 × 306 × 313 cm
Weight: 15,300 kg
Route: Changzhou, China → Nuevo León, Mexico

Designed to store industrial cryogenic liquids at ultra-low temperatures, the tank required stability, dimensional accuracy, and coordinated handling from origin to final delivery.

Operational Environment
The tank arrived during one of Manzanillo’s busiest periods. High saturation meant appointment windows shifted constantly and any delay within the terminal risked pushing the release to the following day. Due to its height and oversize nature, strict route validations were required before inland transport could begin.

How Racing Cargo Kept the Operation Moving

  1. Strategic positioning inside a saturated terminal
Racing Cargo deployed transport units early, securing a favorable queue position that allowed for same-day cargo release.
  2. Ensuring dimensional compliance for exit clearance
Technical adjustments and verifications were coordinated to meet height restrictions and authorize an approved route for inland movement.
  3. Mobilizing the right lifting equipment
A certified crane with appropriate capacity was arranged to perform a precise and secure unloading maneuver at the delivery site.
  4. Adapting to weather conditions
Rain during unloading required additional safety protocols and operational adjustments to maintain control and prevent delays.

A Controlled Delivery in an Unpredictable Scenario
Despite congestion, shifting timelines, and environmental variables, the operation remained on track. Through real-time coordination and proactive anticipation of constraints, Racing Cargo delivered the oversized cryogenic tank safely and efficiently. In oversized logistics, ideal scenarios are rare, but reliable execution should not be.
