Punto System and Sea Cargo Logistics Panama Collaborate to Transport Dismantled Crawled Drilling Rig

< 1 min read

Punto System has successfully transported a huge dismantled crawled drilling rig from door to door from Ottawa to Panama City, via Baltimore port, under temporary export/temporary import customs status.

The main unit of the rig weighed 54 tons (16 x 3 x 3.3 m) and it was shipped as one special transport and 3 trucks full of the machine’s accessories.

The challenge in this shipment has been to coordinate the machine’s arrival at the port when the permits were expiring, and continued postponement of the ship’s arrival.

However, thanks to the great teamwork between Punto System and XLP member Sea Cargo Logistics Panama, they succeed in delivering the machine on the first day of the acceptance slot period with the road transit permits expiring the same day and manage to transport the 3 trucks some days later.
