Orchid Shipping transports deodorizer for oil filtration plant

2 min read

The Project team in Orchid Shipping continue to remain committed in their art of evolving bespoke logistics solutions for their patrons. Recently one of their regular customers had an ODC consignment to be shipped ex JNPT (Nhava Sheva), India to Tincan, Nigeria, approached their Project team for a solution. The cargo was a Deodorizer for an edible oil filtration plant in Nigeria. Originally, the cargo was meant to be transported as a BB parcel, primarily because of its unusual length – 2,380 cms. As soon as the inquiry was received, the team in Orchid jumped into action to deduce the best possible option both in terms of viability, feasibility, and safe handling of the cargo.

Finding a regular BB service ex JNPT to Tincan, during the ensuing pandemic times, seemed a very difficult proposition. Whatever options were available came with undue long waiting time at the transshipments which imposed security risk on the cargo too. After weighing all the options in hand, Team Orchid proposed to ship the parcel in the container mode. Once decided, the most effective solution was tabled before the customer, involving only one transhipment at Antwerp (Antwerp Port being fully equipped to handle such over length cargo). Ex Antwerp, the parcel would be shipped on a multipurpose vessel of an established operator seasoned in handling ODCs as the one in hand. In about 55 (fifty-five) days tentatively the parcel would reach its destination port.

The customer, needless to say, was once again satisfied with the solution provided by Team Orchid, who continues as always to endeavor to unravel the most effective solution for their customers!
