Octagon Freight Move Challenging Cargo from the UAE to Belgium
They recently took on the task of handling cargo from Sharjah Port, UAE to Antwerp, Belgium. There were many challenges they had to face in this shipment.
The cargo consisted of 1 RORO piece and 11 static pieces. The main challenge was the team had to load the cargo using only 2 Mafi units because it was more cost-effective although the use of 3 Mafi units was initially suggested by the shipping line.
The other challenge was one of the pieces – Kelly Bar – was 60 ft long therefore they had to get the suitable equipment repositioned from Saudi Arabia.
To offload the 60 ft Mafi from the vessel was also difficult primarily because of the water levels at the time and as a result the team had to move every piece onto a vessel using the 40 ft Mafi. The whole operation took a total of 6 hours.
