Manuport Logistics Acquires Mira Transport Services in Turkey

2 min read

Manuport Logistics (MPL) is proud to announce the acquisition of Mira Transport Services. Mira is a perfect fit for MPL. It is a well-established freight forwarder with over 100 employees and offices in Turkey (Istanbul (head office), Gemlik, Mersin and Izmir), and the U.S. (New York). Founded by the Roxcel Group in 2000, the company has an excellent reputation and track record across the world. On top of that, Mira runs its own 15,000 m2 warehouse in Istanbul.

“Mira has always been a successful member of the Roxcel Group,” explains Ahmad Porkar, CEO of Roxcel Holding. “The decision to divest Mira shares was taken in full agreement and coordination with its management, as it will allow Mira to achieve its potential by joining an international and very dynamic logistics group.”

According to Guy Pasmans, CEO of MPL: “The negotiations with Roxcel, the local management, proceeded constructively and professionally, meaning we could strike an agreement relatively quickly, despite the challenges posed by COVID-19. We saw many similarities between MPL and Mira in terms of doing business, culture and expertise. This fit is the most important factor for us in an acquisition process.”

“Manuport Logistics already controls around 10,000 TEU, import and export combined, of volumes linked to Turkey,” adds Ken Joris, CCO of MPL. “With Mira we can further develop our strategic verticals such as flooring, liquids, chemicals, and food.”

The acquisition of Mira fits into MPL’s global development strategy of expanding its worldwide network, in order to serve international customers even better and offer a flexible alternative to global operators.

“For Manuport Logistics, Mira is a larger acquisition, but thanks to intense cooperation on both sides, the deal was negotiated efficiently and quickly,” says Bert Keersmaekers, M&A Manager of MPL. The integration and further expansion of Manuport Logistics Turkey will be a joint effort of the local team and head office in Antwerp. The local management will remain a minority shareholder.

“In the globalizing world economy, company acquisitions can only be successful with the support and experience of the local team,” asserts Alev Aksoy, Managing Director of Mira Transport Services. “I have no doubt that by combining the experience and knowledge of Mira in this region with the global infrastructure and financial strength of MPL, we will take our company to the next level.”

Serhat Dagtas, Managing Director of MPL Turkey, agrees: “We believe that we’ll achieve great projects together with Manuport Logistics, and I have every confidence in the success of MPL Turkey.”
