Khimji Ramdas Complete Delivery of 50,000 cbm of Coated Pipes for Oil & Gas Industry in Oman

Khimji Ramdas Shipping LLC has successfully completed clearance and the transport of over 50,000 cbm of coated pipes from all major ports in Oman to interior oilfield locations.

Handling and transporting coated pipes posed a unique challenge in terms of special requirements to be used on dunnage and saddles and protections to be taken in order to minimize damage to the pipes at bay during handling and transporting as well as maintain the highest HSE standards.

Details below are some of the major consignments of coated pipes handled:

Port of Duqm to Saih Rawl Gas field 

Commodity: 24 inch coated pipe/ 12 mt length

Quantity: 1,913

Volume: 10,190 cbm

Distance from Port to FPD: 460 km each way

UOM: Standard 40 ft trailer with each round carrying 9 number of pipes, covering the whole delivery in 28 days at a stretch.

Port of Salalah to Salalah LPG site

Commodity: a combination of 16 inch and 24 inch coated pipes/ 12 mt length

Quantity: 3,347

Total volume: 11,340 cbm

UOM: Standard 40 ft trailer with each round carrying 14 X 16 inch pipes or 9 X 24 inch pipes, covering the whole delivery in 30 days at a stretch and over 262 continuous trips.

Port of Duqm to Duqm Free Zone – Oman Gas Company site

Commodity: a combination of 18 inch and 32 inch coated pipes/ 12 mt length

Total pipes: 1,069 numbers

Volume: 8,780 cbm

UOM: Standard 40 ft trailer with each round carrying 12 X 18 or 5 X 32 inch pipes. The whole delivery covered over 150 continuous trips.

Port of Sohar to BP Khazan site 

No. of pipes: 1,260

Approx. volume: 4,600 cbm

Scope of work included:

  • Customs clearance
  • Receiving and transporting 40’ DC to storage yard
  • De-stuffing loose pipes from the containers
  • Storage using sand bags and appropriate dunnage
  • Loaded coated pipes on standard flatbed trailers and delivered to Khazan site around 450 km from Sohar.
