What Project Cargo Operation Was Managed by Allog Group?
Allog Group, a member of the XLProjects Network (XLP), coordinated a door-to-door project cargo shipment from Itajaí, Brazil, to San Tomás de Castilla, Guatemala. The operation involved 17 oversized pieces totaling 1,685 CBM and 235 tons, with some units reaching 4.90 M in height and weighing about 60 tons.
To ensure smooth execution, Allog Group worked closely with its network partner ICS | Central America & Caribbean – Guatemala, coordinating with both the shipper and the importer throughout the operation.
What Challenges Were Faced During the Transport?
The main challenge involved transporting cargo measuring 4.90 M in height along routes with bridge and overpass restrictions. In Brazil, trucks were required to travel during nighttime hours in some areas, and overhead power lines had to be temporarily lifted to allow safe passage.
The cargo also had to reach the Port of Itajaí within a tight timeframe to meet the vessel schedule. Once at the port, the units were transferred directly from truck to vessel to avoid delays.
How Was the Delivery Completed in Guatemala?
At destination, several bridges along the inland route had a maximum clearance of 4.97 M. To address this, ICS and Allog Group arranged a custom trailer configuration that allowed the most critical pieces to be “hung,” reducing the transport height to approximately 4.95 M.
Through careful planning and coordination within a global project network, Allog Group successfully completed the project logistics operation and ensured the safe delivery of the oversized cargo.

Summary
The door-to-door shipment managed by Allog Group highlights the complexity involved in transporting oversized project cargo between Brazil and Guatemala. With cargo pieces reaching heights of 4.90 M and weighing up to 60 tons, the project required precise planning, route engineering and specialized transport solutions.
Through collaboration with ICS in Guatemala and careful coordination throughout the operation, Allog Group ensured the cargo moved safely from the manufacturing site to the final destination. The project underscores the importance of expertise, timing and partnership within a global project network when handling challenging project logistics operations.
