3 min read

LAND RIG

The project involved the relocation of Land Rig RIG 303 from the United Arab Emirates to Poland, executed as a project cargo and breakbulk movement. The scope of the shipment covered nearly 122 pieces, totaling approximately 2,000 metric tons and 6,555 cubic meters, reflecting the scale and complexity. The main contracting and coordinating party was Rohlig SUUS Logistics SA, acting on behalf of the end-client.

For origin operations in the UAE, Rohlig SUUS Logistics SA appointed Octagon Freight Services L.L.C., a member of the XLProjects Network (XLP), as the local partner responsible for export activities. The shipment was carried out just before the Ormuz Strait closure, ensuring full alignment between origin and destination operations.

Origin Operations in the UAE
At Mina Saqr Port, Ras Al Khaimah, Octagon Freight Services L.L.C. managed all origin-side project cargo activities under the overall coordination of Rohlig SUUS Logistics SA. These activities included:

  • Dismantling and preparation of rig components
    • Packing and securing for sea transport
    • Export customs documentation and compliance
    • Coordination with terminal operators and vessel representatives

Following completion of preparation works, the cargo was loaded on board M.V. Pera, which sailed from the UAE to Szczecin Port, Poland.

Destination Operations in Poland
Upon arrival at Szczecin Port, Rohlig SUUS Logistics SA took full responsibility for destination handling. The scope included:

  • Supervision of vessel discharge operations
    • Verification of cargo condition and documentation
    • Coordination of equipment handover for onward domestic transport and final deliveries

These activities ensured correct sequencing for subsequent inland logistics and future reassembly, minimizing idle time between port discharge and client readiness.

All handling and transport activities followed heavy-lift and project cargo safety standards, fully compliant with port authority regulations and maritime requirements, ensuring a safe and controlled execution of the land rig relocation.

Summary
The completion of RIG 303’s relocation from the United Arab Emirates to Poland reflects the continuing capability of Octagon Freight Services L.L.C. and ROHLIG SUUS LOGISTICS SA to support specialized industrial movements within the global project network. By utilizing international partnership models, applying technical documentation standards, and maintaining structured HSE controls, the company demonstrated reliable execution in the field of project logistics. The successful handover illustrates the operational value of coordinated forwarders in enabling industrial activities across continents.
