What Was the Project Scope?
Racing Cargo, a member of the XLProjects Network (XLP), successfully transported an oversized flexible pipeline valued at more than USD 700,000 from France to Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. The cargo, intended for offshore oil and gas extraction, weighed 17 tons and was transported with its accessories on a reel measuring 4.10 m x 2.50 m x 4.30 m. This operation required thorough planning, close collaboration with the origin partner, and agile coordination to overcome port and inland transport challenges.
What Challenges Did the Cargo Face at the Port?
Due to the oversized nature of the pipeline, Racing Cargo performed unstuffing from the 40’ Flat Rack directly inside the port. This step reduced the cargo’s height and ensured safer inland transit. Coordinating with port authorities was essential to maintain timelines and protect the high-value shipment.
How Were Inland Route Challenges Managed?
The inland delivery presented multiple obstacles. With a truck height of approximately 5.20 meters, the cargo had to pass through densely urbanized areas with numerous overhead utility lines. Local and state transit authorities approved a restricted two-hour transit window from 2:00 to 4:00 a.m., which Racing Cargo successfully adhered to, ensuring timely delivery.
Additionally, the cargo required continuous escorting throughout its journey due to its high value and insurance requirements. The team’s careful route planning and coordination with authorities allowed the shipment to arrive on schedule without incident.
What Enabled the Successful Delivery?
The success of the project relied on anticipation, agility, and accuracy. From early collaboration with the origin partner in France to negotiations with the destination port terminal and compliance with local transit regulations, Racing Cargo ensured a seamless operation.
