2 min read

Overview

EFS Logistics successfully managed a challenging shipment that required innovative problem-solving and efficient logistics coordination. This challenging opportunity was provided to us by an overseas partner in the USA. Initially planned to sail directly from the USA to Aqaba, Jordan, the shipment faced an unexpected route change. Due to the current problem in the region, there was no sailing available to Aqaba Port, So the shipment was shipped to Dammam Port. EFS Logistics was assigned to manage the land transit operation from Dammam Port, Saudi Arabia to Aqaba Port, Jordan.

The project’s complexity and successful execution showcase EFS Logistics’ commitment to reliability and adaptability in the face of logistical obstacles.

Project Details

Origin of Shipment: USA.

Port of Arrival: Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Final Destination: Aqaba Port, Jordan.

Shipment Details:

Cargo: 2 inflatable boats on its own trailers

Weight: 6,124 kg each

Dimensions: 1,362 cm (Length) x 323 cm (Width) x 379 cm (Height) each.

Challenges

The shipment was originally scheduled to sail directly to Aqaba, Jordan using a Roll-On/Roll-Off (RORO) service. However, the carrier canceled the direct RORO service due to regional instability. This unexpected change required quick adaptation to ensure timely and safe cargo delivery.

Solution

EFS Logistics responded swiftly by rerouting the shipment. The boats were delivered from Dammam Port in Saudi Arabia to Aqaba, Jordan in the least possible time frame.  EFS Logistics arranged for the shipment to be transported by land as a transit cargo from Dammam Port to Aqaba Port.

Execution

Coordination: EFS Logistics coordinated with various stakeholders, including port authorities and transportation partners, to ensure a smooth transition from sea to land transport.

Customs Clearance: Efficient handling of customs procedures at Dammam Port to facilitate a seamless transit process.

Secure Transit: Ensured the boats were securely transported overland, adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines.

Communication: Maintained clear communication with the client, providing regular updates on the shipment’s status and handling any concerns promptly.

Outcome

Despite the initial disruption, the shipment was delivered safely and on schedule to Aqaba Port. This project highlights EFS Logistics’ ability to adapt to changing circumstances and deliver solutions that meet clients’ needs.

Conclusion

This case study underscores EFS Logistics’ expertise in handling complex and unforeseen logistical challenges. By providing innovative solutions and maintaining a high level of service, EFS Logistics continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence in the logistics industry.
